Switzerland houses most of the highest mountain peaks in the Alps, making it a famous destination for climbing adventures. One of the country's best via ferrata routes is located in the picturesque village of Murren, just south of Interlaken. This 2km long via ferrata provides a thrilling climb across high valleys, along steep rock walls, and past the highest waterfall in Switzerland.

This route offers a fun challenge even to those without previous via ferrata experience. If you're new to this climbing technique, all you need is an enthusiastic attitude and some physical fitness. Your guide picks you up at your accommodation in Interlaken to drive you to Murren. You receive all the necessary equipment. After a briefing from your guide, you take a 15-minute cable car high into the mountains to being your Swiss Alpine adventure.

Climb high over the Lauterbrunnen Valley using metal ladders along a rock wall. As you walk on steel cables from cliff to cliff, take in the views of the Bernese Alps in the distance, with peaks reaching over 4,000m.

Next, you come to a Nepal bridge stretching on for 80 m (260 ft). Suspended in midair, you walk at a height of 400 m (1300 ft) over the Murrenbach gorge. Witness the visually stunning Murrenbach falls, Switzerland's highest waterfall, cascading down the rocks through five different sections. The beauty of the Swiss Alps impresses more and more as you enjoy the 2km long (1.25 mi) route and reach an altitude of 600 m (1970 ft).

When the group completes the entire 3.5-4.5 hour climb, you head back to Interlaken. With high altitudes, adventurous features and gorgeous views of the Alps, this route can certainly claim its title as one of the best via ferrata climbs in Switzerland.

Our guide Hano was fantastic! He was funny and knowledgeable and really made our via ferrata that much better. The views throughout the tour were incredible and the track itself was challenging but fun. I highly recommend trying this tour out if you are heading to Interlaken!
