The towering Dolomites mountain range wrapping around Lake Garda provides endless climbing routes of all types. The via ferrata along Monte Colodri is a manageable route for both beginners and young family members. The ladders and steel cable brings you to the very top of the mountain for sweeping views of both the Arco Valley below and the sparkling Lake Garda in the distance.
You meet your expert guide and receive all the equipment in Arco, a town just north of the lake. No previous experience is necessary, all you need is average physical fitness and the enthusiasm to climb. Once you go over the safety briefing, a short walk brings you to the beginning of the route.
As you clamp your carabineer to the cables, you walk along ledges, climb up excellent footholds, and step up ladders to ascend higher up the jagged rock face. The constant wind of Lake Garda breezes past you and the Italian sun shines down. The town of Arco below becomes smaller and smaller as you become level with the massive green-covered mountains around you.Once at the top, take in the startling landscape: the gray Dolomites peak out around the smooth blue waters of Lake Garda. On the way down, you may stop for a visit to the ruins of Arco Castle, first built around 1000 AD.
The few hours on the course flies by, and in no time you’re back on the ground. Discover a new perspective of the largest glacial lake in Italy.
