We understand that each family is unique, and that getting everyone to agree on an activity can be difficult. That's why we've put together this fantastic package that will take you on an adventure on a raft in a river, going slowly down with the current, giving you the feeling of being immersed in the rainforest. You will listen to the wonderful sounds of nature, birds, and the water, and of course have a great time finding amazing wildlife along the way.
We'll meet you in the foyer of your hotel to begin this incredible adventure. Once your reservation is confirmed, your exact pick-up time will be confirmed on your itinerary. The guide will offer all required boating equipment, including life jackets and paddles, as well as detailed instructions on how to navigate down the river. While navigating on level water, your guide will take you down the river, spotting flora and animals to show you. This is a terrific opportunity to observe monkeys, reptiles, birds, sloths, and a magnificent quiet backdrop.
After a couple of hours on the river, you'll disembark and have a delightful Costa Rican snack on a local family farm, which includes tropical fruits, plantain and cheese, and a delectable coffee. After a 30-minute picturesque journey, the day's high point arrives!! It's time to visit the world-famous La Fortuna Waterfall, which is a MUST SEE! Whether you plan to swim or not, this 246-foot-tall waterfall cascading from the mountain's heart is a sight to behold. Before you begin the 498-step down to the swimming hole, an observation platform provides a fantastic view from the top. Your guide will lead you through the steps and keep an eye on your possessions while you swim. If you intend to swim, you must bring a towel with you. After a refreshing swim in the crystal blue water, you'll journey back up the 498 stairs at your own time. Dry garments can be put on in clean changing rooms.
A fresh and tasty typical lunch will be waiting for you at an outdoor private farm in the countryside, allowing you to get a real taste of Costa Rican cuisine and our popular "casado," which translates to "married," and consists of rice, beans, salad, picadillo, your choice of meat (chicken, beef, fish, or pork), and fried sweet plantain. There is always a vegetarian alternative.
The Arenal chocolate tour is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to participate in one of Costa Rica's most important traditions. The Arenal chocolate tour begins with a tasting of excellent sugar cane juice on the sugar cane fields. Then you'll visit a cacao farm, which is where the cacao beans that produce chocolate are grown, and you'll be able to see and taste the chocolate making process. This fantastic half-day is completed, giving you an excellent taste of what this lovely place has to offer and allowing you to unwind for the rest of the day. We'll bring you back to your hotel.
