3-day SSI Scuba Diving Course in Madeira

Known as the Atlantic Floating Garden, Madeira is the “Best Island Destination” according to the World Travel Awards. With an astonishing landscape bathed by a sparkling blue ocean, the archipelago is also a fantastic spot for scuba diving. Underwater visibility can reach up to 50 meters (164 ft), revealing its rich sea life to explorers.

Our Open Water Diver classes are based on the SSI - Scuba Schools International program, the most popular scuba diving certification in the world. The lessons cover everything you need to scuba dive safely, from the basics of making bubbles underwater to essential diving skills. We also provide all the necessary gear, such as the diving suit, fins, and tank.

The course lasts three days and the activities are divided into three parts. The first lessons focus on knowledge development and take place in our diving center. Afterwards, we head to the superb Quinta do Norte natural swimming pool. In this stage, we assemble all the gear and do practical training sessions. When we are confident enough, we jump in the sea with our professional instructor to explore the blue ocean of Madeira.

Our center is just a few steps away from the shore. It is a smooth and lovely dive spot, where you can spot different species of sea animals. Octopuses, cuttlefish, barracudas, stingrays, eagle rays, and moray eels are waiting just for you. Encounters with monk seals are also getting more frequent.

The 3-day SSI Scuba Diving Course can be done all year long, and entitles you to take part in dives with a more experienced diver. Although some swimming skills are needed, you don’t need to be a Michael Phelps to try your first strokes in open water. Children as young as ten years old can take part in the course. Not to mention it is a fantastic opportunity to make new friends interested in exploring a completely new world. Just like you.
