We'll pick you up in central Helsinki and take you to the lovely Kuusijärvi smoke sauna, which is surrounded by Finnish woodland. Our guide will teach you everything you need to know about Finnish sauna culture and how to get the most out of this one-of-a-kind Finnish experience. Remember that saunas are hot, and you'll be sweating, so bring something to drink with you.
Kuusijärvi is a famous tourist site, and the smoke sauna has a restricted capacity. As a result, we may have to wait for a while in the cafeteria. The overall trip time, including transportation, will be 2-3 hours, depending on how long you want to spend in the sauna and whether there is a queue.
You will see and experience a true smoke sauna on this journey, which is held in high regard by most Finns. Water is thrown on the rocks (which we call Löyly in Finland) as we sit in the sauna, which is heated to roughly 80-100 degrees Celsius. This sends a pulse of heat across the sauna, resulting in relaxation, stress relief, toxins flushing, muscle stiffness relief, and skin clearing.
After the sweating comes the swimming! We will step outside to cool down and breathe in the fresh air. There is a lake just outside the sauna where we can go for a swim, and if you are brave enough to join us in the winter, we will go for the famous arctic dip! Go ahead take a photo, otherwise no one will believe you!
After our dip we will head back into the sauna to warm up again and then we will repeat the entire experience twice more. With each dip comes more pleasure and we believe three swims is the magic number.
Usually an hour and a half of sauna and swimming is sufficient . After the sauna it is time to take a shower, get clean clothes on, and return to Helsinki! Please bring your own bathing suit and a water bottle with you. Towels will be provided by us.
You may have heard that Finns bathe naked in the heat, but as we're in a public mixed smoking sauna, bathing suits are required, so no worries!
