Lunch by the lake
During your walk, you will stop for a lunch break which the guide will prepare. This is a great time to enjoy the magical scenery of the national park and explore the nearby lake and forest. After the lunch break, you will return back to the starting point and prepare for the sauna.
Relax in the sauna and swim in a lake
The sauna experience will last approximately 1.5 hours. This will give you enough time to have multiple breaks to swim, cool down, and sweat! After the sauna, you can take a shower and change into fresh clothing for the ride back to Helsinki. Your guide will drop you off refreshed and recharged at the original pick-up point at approximately 5:30 P.M.
What awaits you?
During this experience, you will get to discover the beauty of Sipoonkorpi national park with a professional wilderness guide. The guide will lead you through forested trails stopping along the way to learn about Finnish wildlife and nature. Our trail leads us to a rocky vista overlooking a freshwater lake where we will have a campfire barbecue.
After a delicious lunch, we will continue our walk to the smoke sauna (A total of 6km). Time to relax, go for a swim, and enjoy a traditional Finnish smoke sauna.
We will take you to the lovely Kuusijärvi smoke sauna, which is surrounded by Finnish woodland. Our guide will teach you everything you need to know about Finnish sauna culture and how to get the most out of this one-of-a-kind Finnish experience. Remember that saunas are hot, and you'll be sweating, so bring something to drink with you.
Kuusijärvi is a famous tourist site, and the smoke sauna has a restricted capacity. As a result, we may have to wait for a while in the cafeteria. The overall trip time, including transportation, will be 2-3 hours, depending on how long you want to spend in the sauna and whether there is a queue.
You will see and experience a true smoke sauna on this journey, which is held in high regard by most Finns. Water is thrown on the rocks (which we call Löyly in Finland) as we sit in the sauna, which is heated to roughly 80-100 degrees Celsius. This sends a pulse of heat across the sauna, resulting in relaxation, stress relief, toxins flushing, muscle stiffness relief, and skin clearing.
After the sweating comes the swimming! We will step outside to cool down and breathe in the fresh air. There is a lake just outside the sauna where we can go for a swim, and if you are brave enough to join us in the winter, we will go for the famous arctic dip! Go ahead take a photo, otherwise no one will believe you!
After our dip we will head back into the sauna to warm up again and then we will repeat the entire experience twice more. With each dip comes more pleasure and we believe three swims is the magic number.
Usually an hour and a half of sauna and swimming is sufficient . After the sauna it is time to take a shower, get clean clothes on, and return to Helsinki! Please bring your own bathing suit and a water bottle with you. Towels will be provided by us.
You may have heard that Finns bathe naked in the heat, but as we're in a public mixed smoking sauna, bathing suits are required, so no worries!
