Why we love this tour
You'll discover the beautiful Lappish natural wonders on backcountry skis, glide on frozen snow and see Lapland from a differenet perspective!
- Snowy forests, lakes and magnificent views
- More adventurous way to explore local nature
- Backcountry skiing on a pristine snow powder
- Tour adjusted to your level and needs

Backcountry skiing is the best way to see pristine portions of the Arctic wilderness. As your experienced guide takes you away from Rovaniemi and into the Taiga forest, you will have the opportunity to explore some of Lapland's most magnificent scenery on backcountry skis, leaving your own track in the thick snow where no one has gone before you!
Off-piste skiing, also known as backcountry skiing, is a terrific opportunity to explore distant sections of Lapland that are blanketed in deep snow. Backcountry skiing, unlike alpine and cross-country skiing, which are both done on groomed paths, allows for a more adventurous journey through hilly terrains, woods, and lakes.
Because the skis have a skin on them, you can go uphill and downhill without going too fast. It doesn't take much effort to get accustomed to the gears and skills for sliding in deep snow, just like snowshoeing. Even for beginners, this makes it very comfortable and simple to use!
Your guide will select a site that best suits the group's level and needs. They will also give you safety guidelines and show you how to operate the skis on new snow using some basic methods. Your guide will light a fire to keep you warm and refreshments and a traditional Finnish barbeque feast will be supplied halfway. This is an excellent opportunity for you to take in the breathtaking views and learn more about Arctic environment - and Lapland in general! This 3h30 ski excursion includes transportation from/to Rovaniemi, a BBQ snack around the fire, and, of course, time spent skiing in nature (around 1h - 1h30 depending on your level).
In all our excursions, our groups are limited to 8 people maximum. It it very important for us to provide you with the best experience as possible, and avoid mass tourism. This way, your guide will know you better and will be able to address all your needs and answer your questions. As we usually say : the smaller the group, the bigger the experience !
