Why we love this tour
You'll explore the beauty of Finnish nature on a whole-day canoeing adventure!
- A tour adapted to your skills
- Typical Finnish snacks
- Small group tour, maximum of 8 travellers
- Canoeing instructions
- Seeing Lapland from a whole new perspective

Canoeing is a wonderful and peaceful way to see Lapland in the summer while also maintaining its natural beauty.
Finland, popularly known as the Land of a Thousand Lakes, is really a land of lakes, with over 188 000. A large number of them are found in Lapland and provide lovely, harmonious panoramas. Many birds and small animals, such as geese, swans, longspurs, cranes, and otters, live in the lakes and rivers.
This challenging full-day trip will allow you to explore all of Lapland's hidden mysteries. You will have the opportunity to appreciate the Arctic fauna and plants from a whole new perspective, and you will end the day with a tremendous sense of accomplishment. A true mini-adventure into the delights of Lapland that you will never forget!
Your expert canoe guide will take you upstream of a river with the goal of reaching Rovaniemi, the capital of Finnish Lapland, to make your journey even more spectacular. They will teach you the fundamentals of canoeing and provide you with the necessary safety instructions before you go on your trip. You'll learn how to use the paddles, how to maneuver on water and guide your canoe, and how to react if your canoe capsizes, among other things. Your guide will always be by your side and will assist you if you require assistance. You will then embark on a river journey together, kayaking for a few hours in the direction of Rovaniemi.
To refuel, you'll take a break at about midway with a traditional Finnish food served over an open fire. This is an excellent time for your guide to demonstrate how to make and light a fire with a flint and steel (without the use of matches or lighters!).
They will also provide you with further information on Lapland, life in the Arctic, and wildlife. For those of you who are photographers, every minute of this tour is a terrific opportunity, so don't forget to bring your camera (but be careful around water!).
The excursion lasts 6 hours and includes transportation, canoeing and safety education, paddling time (about 4 hours depending on your level), and a snack around the fire. The route will be modified for safety reasons depending on the weather and your fitness level.
Our groups are limited to a maximum of 8 people on all of our excursions. It is critical for us to give you with the greatest possible experience while avoiding mass tourism. Your guide will get to know you better this way, and will be able to meet all of your needs and answer all of your questions. As we often say, the smaller the group, the greater the adventure!
