Muyil, an ancient Maya site, is located in the Sian Ka'an biosphere reserve's northern part. This millennia-old trading station, perched on the rim of a freshwater lagoon system and surrounded by tropical vegetation, is the ideal location for learning about Mayan history and environment.
We take an eye-opening trek among the temples and through the shifting ecosystems, past seasonal lakes, abundant flora, and eventually we will get to see a lookout tower with a spectacular view of the biosphere. At the end of the hike, a lovely picnic with fresh fruits and local foods awaits us. We then take a boat ride over the lagoons, passing through flooded savannah and complex mangrove canals that dazzle with their green tones reflected in the still blue water.
The cleanest of water tempts us on an extraordinary 'lazy river' experience, where we float in a totally unique setting, surrounded by the sounds of nature, orchids & bromeliads, with only the songbirds and the breeze gently rustling through the reeds to keep us company. It's like nothing you've ever experienced before in terms of relaxation!
