Climb a Panoramic Via Ferrata above Lake Garda
Duration: 5 hours Medium
Why we love this tour
Walk the death-defying footsteps of history's criminals on this challenging via ferrata course
- High vertical rock walls
- Exposed ledges
- Spectacular views of Lake Garda
- Hiking, climbing, and via ferrata all in one
The Path of the Contrabbandieri (smugglers) used to provide the perfect escape for criminals. Now, the route makes for a perfect via ferrata in the skies. The route travels along high vertical walls for a fun challenge and panoramic views.
When greeted by your guide, you’ll receive a brief introduction and all the necessary equipment. We set off for an hour-long walk on the Old Ponale Road, first built in the mid-19th century but now a hiking and cycling path through stunning nature.
As we steadily ascend the path, we arrive at the ferrata's starting point to begin walking in the footsteps of old smugglers. Your guide ensures you tackle obstacles like ladders and wooden logs with the appropriate equipment, such as carabiners (metal clasps), wall hooks, and slings. Navigating the steep ledges of the walls rewards you with sweeping views of Lake Garda. With blue waters below and green mountains around you, you may forget you’re traversing high vertical walls.
After about 4 hours of adventuring above the waters, we step back on land and make our way to our meeting points. You too can live life on the edge on in this tough but wildly entertaining via ferrata. After hiking, climbing, and via ferrata, we can be sure you’ll be smuggling the memories all the way back home.
