This trip is one unbelievable experience.
We meet at 7 a.m. and gear up for the day. We will start the adventure a whale-watching water taxi ride through the rugged beauty of Kenai Fjords, making our way to the stunning Aialik Bay. During the ride, we are very likely to see whales, sometimes breaching, orcas might swim under your boat, we will watch sea lion colonies, sea otters, puffins, bald eagles and with some luck we might see also bears, as they are very abundant in the area.
Onboard the water taxi, we will have snacks and drinks for you as well, to make the scenery even more enjoyable.
After about 2,5 hours on the boat, we will head for the kayaking part of the adventure. During the paddling, we often see the glacier calving into the water and we might see just more and more amazing wildlife. There are even chances of whales approaching. After we are done with the paddling (and a good lunch on the way), we will had back for another stunning boat ride, heading back to Seward.
Need to know before you go
The group runs with a 2 people minimum.
As everywhere in the nature, wildlife is wild and upredictable, so we cannot guarantee sightings of any specific species. But almost always we see tons of interesting wildlife of which you will bring home amazing memories.
Similar to wildlife, we cannot guarantee you will see glacier calving, but most likely you will.
This kayaking trip became one of the most popular in the area, so you will frequently see other kayakers. If you want to get farther from other people, we recommend the Northwestern Fjord kayaking trip.
