Want to see more than just Old Town and the Charles Bridge? On this adventure trip, we explore the outskirts of Prague, stopping at the famous Karlstejn Castle, Prokopské Valley, and the Svaty Jan pod Skalou monastery, each in their own beautiful setting.
On a splendid day out in the Czech countryside, we travel by van from one location to the next. If the weather is nice, we even take a swim at one of our stops to cool off. You don’t have to be super fit to join, just slightly active.
We begin with a 15-minute drive to go on our first hike in the Prokopské Valley, famous for its cliffs and rare views over Prague. We don’t know what’s better, the views or the lack of tourists. In the Amerika canyon, our next destination, you admire a huge rocky gorge that hides a sunken blue lake in a former quarry.
Next, we arrive at Karlstejn Castle. Here you can join us for lunch (included in the price), go for a 1-hour guided tour inside the castle, or walk a nature trail. We believe the castle is more beautiful on the outside, but if you would like to take a tour please note the price of admission is not included in this tour.
Finally, we visit Svaty Jan pod Skalou, meaning St. John under the Rock, a 15th-century monastery built at the base of a 100 m (333 ft) steep cliff. We climb the rock and enjoy a great panorama of the valley and the monastery below.
The tour includes around 14 km (8.7 miles) moderate walking with plenty of rest. If you prefer not to walk as much, you can avoid 3 of the hikes by waiting for the group in peaceful nature. In this case, the walking is around 7 km (4.3 miles). Together we stop five or six times and spend around 1.5 hours in the car.
At the end of the day, you may feel fatigued, but you will be full of new experiences from the remarkable places hiding in the Czech countryside. Your inner explorer will thank you.

I booked a one person private tour and my guide was Krystof. He was really patient and nice guy, with the whole tour catered to my pace. (And a fantastic photographer) The tour gave me an amazing first impression of the beauty of Prague/Czech. If you’re into nature, or want to see something different from architecture in Europe, it would be totally worth the expense. After seeing Czech Paradise, I am motivated to visit more hidden gems in Czech! Thanks to Krystof once again for making my short trip to Prague such a memorable and enjoyable one.

Our family experienced a magical day on our biking tour from Prague to Karlstejn Castle with Jana and Sabina. They were fun, friendly and made the experience very joyful. They managed to keep our 11 year old son engaged and motivated to bike! It was a day of beautiful scenery, charming villages, great conversations and a fairy tale castle. We highly recommend this tour.
