- Enjoy a traditional Canarian meal in the forest
Tenerife is known for its dry, rocky volcanic features. But on the northern end of the island, you enter a completely different world. The Anaga Natural Reserve’s lush forests overflow with trees, bushes, and moss. Hike through this green wonderland and enjoy a full Canarian lunch in the almost jungle-like atmosphere.
Starting with a hotel pickup, the shuttle brings you to the range of peaks and ravines. As a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, special preservation takes place to keep the unique plant and animal life flourishing. This 14,500 hectares (35,800 acres) expanse is home to an extremely high level of biodiversity for such a small space. As you hike, keep your eye out for passing birds, crawling lizards, and buzzing insects.
When you ascend higher into the forest, the increasing humidity and light mist create a magical feel, almost like you’re stepping through a cloud. Hike along the paths and pass by a range of volcanic features, like “roques” (old volcanic chimneys) and dikes (fractures filled with solidified magma).
After the two to three hour hike, the group stops for a lunch of traditional Canarian food. Take in the delicious tastes and smells as you enjoy the fresh air of the wet leaves around you. After you’ve filled yourself with the island cuisine, continue back to the starting point and get dropped off at your accommodation.
The Anaga Rural Park houses the typical volcanic features of Tenerife, but in the middle of a rich, dense forest. Explore the mountainous northern end of the island and enjoy a meal you won't forget.

Reviews for this tour

The Forest is beautiful and the marked trail the guides chose was a beginner to intermediate hike and perfect for our group. The guides were very personable. Lunch was delicious. The visitors center has trail maps so if you want to hike after the excursion and have your own transportation from the visitors center to your hotel it is possible to do this.
