Lanzarote is known for its variety, which can be seen in its landscapes, flora, and fauna. This tour is led by a geologist passionate about understanding and protecting the ecosystems. You do more than see Mount Corona - you learn about the geological background of this dominant volcano, and about every part of nature you experience on this half-day trek.

We pick you up at 9:00 a.m. from your hotel, and recommend that you bring comfortable walking shoes and sun protection. We have a 10-km walk ahead of us, but we move at a comfortable pace for the full 4 hours and provide walking sticks if necessary, so all levels of fitness are welcome.

Our trek starts in the small village of Ye, located at the foot of Mount Corona. Why this volcanic crater goes by the name of “the Giant of the North” becomes clear as soon as we begin exploring. Circling around the volcano, we make our way through vineyards and Lanzarote's coastline. Moving up to the edge of the crater, we see beautiful landscapes open up all around us. Some areas can get slightly steep, but never dangerous.

We circle back towards the village, which allows us to explore Mount Corona from all sides. One of our most beautiful stops is above the cliffs of Famara, from where we can see the Archipelago Chinijo Marine reserve (a "Special Protection Area" for birds since 1994) and the picturesque northern islands of Lanzarote.

As we discover the interesting but fragile ecosystems, our guide explains the various geological origins of Lanzarote volcanology and all that survives within its landscapes. The interesting facts continue through our well-deserved picnic lunch, provided in the middle of our trek. We can accommodate any allergy or food intolerance if you let us know in advance. And thanks to our guides' dedication to sustainability, the food and its packaging are always eco-friendly.

By the time we drop you back at your hotel, you will have learned more about the island than you could've imagined. This experience is a perfect example of a one-of-a-kind tour.
